A care home in Edinburgh was joined by the local community to celebrate its first birthday, in true Scottish fashion.
To mark the special day, the Care UK team at Murrayside, on South Beechwood, invited the local community to attend the St Andrew’s Day-themed birthday bash.
To celebrate, residents and guests wore tartan and tapped their feet to live entertainment from Highland dancers and a piper, and there was also Scottish country dance music to keep everyone in the party spirit.
Completing the day in true Scottish style, guests were treated to a selection of delicious Scottish food specially prepared by Murrayside’s chefs, including haggis nibbles and shortbread.
Michelle Reid, home manager at Murrayside, said: “It was wonderful to see so many members of the local community joining us to toast our special milestone. The whole team worked hard to organise the event, and I am delighted to say that their efforts were rewarded – our birthday party will definitely be one to remember for years to come. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who celebrated our first birthday with us, and for helping to make the day extra special.
“It’s been a busy twelve months. We’ve welcomed some real characters to the home, built relationships with brilliant local organisations, and worked hard to create a homely environment for everyone who spends time with us here at Murrayside. We’re excited to see what’s in store for the next year and beyond!”
Murrayside care home has been specially designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, and has its own cinema, hair salon and café.
