Residents at a care home in Stratford are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January.
Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th January, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the species in their garden.
Alongside Care UK homes across the country, Ambleside, on Evesham Road, will be celebrating the best of British birds by setting up a camera to record the birds that visit the feeder in the garden, as well as welcoming local bird expert, to give a talk about the wildlife that visits.
Julia Joy, home manager at Ambleside, explained why discovering our wildlife is an important activity: “Everyone is really looking forward to celebrating British birds this January and learning more about our feathered friends. We’ve been researching British birds common to Stratford and are very excited to be taking part in a variety of activities throughout January.
“Residents here at Ambleside have a keen interest in nature, so we thought that researching local wildlife, as well as seeing birds of prey would be the perfect way to discover what’s on our doorstep. We’d like to thank RSPB for inspiring us to get involved - we can’t wait to get started!”
Ambleside is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, coffee shop and hair salon, with plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
