A care home in Newbury is kicking off the festivities early by hosting a Christmas market for the local community to raise funds for the MS Society.
On Saturday 30th November from 12noon-4pm, the Care UK team at Winchcombe Place, on Maple Crescent, will be hosting an afternoon of festive fun for residents, friends, families and neighbours.
Kerry Thompson, home manager at Winchcombe Place, said: “We run a busy calendar of events for residents and the local community throughout the year. As well as providing a great chance for some seasonal fun, our Christmas market also gives us an opportunity to prompt happy memories of Christmas for residents living with dementia. Reminiscence activities like this are perfect for getting conversations going and sharing memories, so it’s fantastic opportunity for everyone to enjoy some social interaction.
“The afternoon is set to be enjoyable for all ages. The Christmas playlist will be turned up loud, our in-home chef will be showcasing seasonal food and drink, and there will be a market selling handmade gifts, while a face painter and a visit from Father Christmas will keep our younger guests entertained. We are extremely humbled by the huge generosity of our local businesses, family and friends who have donated some amazing prizes for our raffle and tombola, so we’re also looking forward to raising some festive funds for the MS Society.”
Winchcombe Place is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia and short-term respite care.
