Care home pledges support for active ageing initiative

PDF icon 8004-CWF7166-Key facts sheets-2pp A4-core-Grangewood.pdfA new care home in Southmead is marking its arrival in the neighbourhood, by supporting a local initiative designed to inspire and enable people to be active, healthy and happy in later life.

Care UK’s Trymview Hall, on Southmead Road, will be working with the Bristol Bears Community Foundation to help extend the reach of the inclusive project into the Southmead area. The state-of-the-art care home will become a community hub to host physical activity sessions, as well as incorporating classes into its own rich lifestyle programme, which is designed to enable residents to enjoy active and fulfilled lives.

Pamela Arnsmeyer, home manager at Trymview Hall, said: “At Care UK, we are passionate about supporting the local community in whatever way we can, so are thrilled to be partnering with the Bristol Bears Community Foundation. We’re looking forward to inviting local people through our doors in early 2020 to enjoy the sessions and to boosting our own activity calendar.”

Kris Tavender, Spectrum Programme manager, said: “Being active brings clear benefits for mental wellbeing as well as physical health for all ages, but especially those aged 55 and over. Programmes like ours are designed to encourage this age group to become – and stay – active. Having Trymview Hall on board helps us to engage with even more people across Bristol to reinforce these benefits by enhancing available opportunities for physical activity.”

The marketing suite at Trymview Hall is now open and a series of open days will be taking place at the home from 22nd to 24th November, which will include a number of Bristol Bears Community Foundation activity taster sessions, providing the perfect opportunity for people to find out more about what life will be like at the care home.

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new 66-bedroom care home, which opens later this month, will provide full-time nursing and residential care, short-term respite care and specialist dementia care.

Trymview Hall features its own coffee shop, cinema room and hair and beauty salon. The home has been configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room, to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
