Barnard Castle care homes celebrates national award win

A care home in Barnard Castle is celebrating after one of its team was recognised at a national awards ceremony.

The Residential Care Services (RCS) Stars awards recognise individual and team excellence at more than 120 care homes nationwide across Care UK.

Michelle Middleton, team member at Kings Court, on Market Place, walked away with the Administrator of the Year award, one of the 20 accolades given out at the evening. Michelle joined Care UK in 2007 has worked at Kings Court since it first opened.

The panel of judges praised Michelle for her brilliant relationships with colleagues, residents and their families which have developed throughout her 12 years working at Kings Court. Michelle has a logical and organised approach to administrative tasks, which often takes pressure off the home manager.

Michele Lloyd, home manager at Kings Court, said: “The award ceremony was a truly inspirational evening – it was brilliant to hear about the dedication of team members, as well as the positive impact this has had on residents, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives.

“Michelle is an incredible help when it comes to keeping the home running smoothly. Her ability to learn new systems quickly has ensured that recordkeeping is accurate. Any time someone has a question – they always go to Michelle!

“I would like to thank Michelle, and the rest of the team, for all their hard work in making Kings Court a wonderful place to live for all residents – every single person is such a valuable part of the team and I really appreciate their commitment to the home.”

Kings Court provides specialist residential and respite care. The care home has 35 bedrooms, along with attractive lounge areas; all designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, whilst promoting independence. The care home also incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, including outdoor courtyards and has its own café.
