Thanks to the home’s Wishing Tree initiative, the care team at Care UK’s Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, knew that 85 resident, Bob Shuck, spent many happy hours watching workers factory test BSA motorbikes outside his home when he was growing up.
The team got in touch with the local BSA Owner’s Club to organise a surprise visit, so that Bob could see the bikes he’d envied during his childhood once again.
The home even went one step further and invited Bob’s children and grandchildren down to experience the special day with him.
Jo Gill, home manager at Chandler Court, said: “Our Wishing Tree initiative is very popular, and it’s so rewarding to make residents’ wishes come true.
“Bob is well known by the team for his love of BSA motorbikes, so it was a wonderful moment to see his face light up when he saw them, it was a great day for all involved. Thank you to the BSA Owner’s Club for coming down and showing Bob the bikes, I’ve never seen him smile so much!”
Bob Shuck, resident at Chandler Court, said: “It was so good to see the bikes again and remember how much I love the way they looked. It was a day I will never forget!”
