A team member at a Godalming care home is celebrating being nominated at a national awards ceremony.
Laxmi Bankar, clinical lead at Care UK’s Jubilee House, on Pound Lane, is a finalist in the ‘Care Registered Nurse Award’ category at the National Care Awards. This is organised by social care’s leading publication, Caring Times, to celebrate and reward excellence and team effort in care homes.
Laxmi was nominated because she ensures the care she gives is personalised and that she and her team gain a full understanding of the needs, interests and background of each resident. She takes pride in the pampering of the ladies in the home, from painting their nails, to trying out different hair styles and fun make-up sessions – everyone always looks their best.
Laxmi also builds relationships with the relatives of residents, which often result in meaningful friendships. She regularly becomes the person that either residents or relatives will confide in when they need help, as she is open, honest and gives great advice.
Totka Zhelyazkova, home manager at Jubilee House, said: “Laxmi is dedicated, hardworking and diligent, leading a team of nurses with passion and determination, as well as always striving to deliver the very best care. She consistently goes the extra mile for residents, whether it’s picking up their prescription on her way into work, or phoning them from her home to give them reassurance - a request is never too big.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to work with her and we wish her the best of luck in the awards!”
