Perry Manor care home shortlisted for trio of awards

A Worcester care home is celebrating after being shortlisted for a trio of awards.

Care UK’s Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, has been shortlisted for the title of Midlands and Wales Care Home of the Year in the national Caring UK awards, which reward and celebrate excellence and team effort in care homes in the UK.

Adding to the award shortlisting success are nominations for Perry Manor’s home manager, Katherine Matthews. Katherine has been shortlisted for two awards, which recognise the quality and innovative nature of the work Katherine is doing at the home, since being appointed as home manager in 2017.

Katherine, who has previously won awards for her work, is now shortlisted for the Care Home Registered Manager award for the West Midlands’ division of the Great British Care Awards (GBCA), and the Best Dementia Care Manager award at the National Dementia Care awards.

Both accolades are designed to recognise individuals who have demonstrated excellence within their field of work.

Katherine and members of the team at Perry Manor adopt a person-centred approach, advocate activity based care and provide a range of ways in which residents can lead their lives as independently as possible, as well as ensuring personal wellbeing.

Perry Manor’s exceptional approach to care is inspired by Katherine, who encourages every member of the home’s team to holistically care for each resident. Team members are empowered and expected to take time out from their tasks to understand and address the wellbeing of the whole person – their physical, emotional, social and mental health needs.

With 23 years of experience working in care, Katherine always goes the extra mile to look after people and ensures support is available for everyone, from residents to team members and relatives.

Katherine said: “I am very proud that Perry Manor, and my work at the home, have been shortlisted for a trio of awards, but I am even more proud of my team and their extraordinary commitment to residents and the home. Every day we strive to enable people to have happy and fulfilled lives. We have the privilege of working in the residents’ home, which is a golden rule that must always be remembered.”

The winners of the GBCA West Midlands Awards, Caring UK awards and National Dementia Care Awards will be announced later in the year.

Perry Manor, which has been rated as Outstanding by CQC inspectors, is a state-of-the-art Care UK home, which provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, coffee shop and hair salon, with plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
