The team at Bowes House are inviting the people of Hailsham to join them for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 27th September to ‘mocha’ real difference and raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Care UK’s Bowes House, on Battle Road, is asking the community to join residents for an afternoon of coffee, cake and catch-ups to help raise money for the millions of people in the UK currently living with cancer.
From 2.30pm-4.30pm, guests will enjoy a relaxing afternoon sharing a cuppa with residents, along with a tempting selection of homemade cakes and treats - all of which will be available for a small donation to Macmillan. To top off the day, residents and visitors are also invited to take part in a ‘Brain teaser challenge’ quiz.
Every year Macmillan organises the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in kitchens, offices and village halls across the globe to fundraise for people living with cancer. Since the very first coffee morning in 1990 over £200 million has been raised for the charity, enabling it to support individuals from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
Helena Barrow, home manager at Bowes House, says: “We love to welcome the local community in for fun events, and Macmillan Coffee Morning is always a big hit with the residents and local people alike – it makes it even more special knowing we are raising funds for such a worthy cause.
“One in two of us will face cancer in our lifetime, so the money we raise will help those affected with cancer to live life as fully as they can. We invite everyone to come along for a delicious slice of cake and a wonderful afternoon of community fun!”
