Appleby House is alive with the sound of music as a local care home gears up to host another evening of opera, after two previous successful events.
On Saturday 28th September from 6pm-8.30pm, Appleby House, on Longmead Road, is opening its doors to the community and inviting them in for a night of classical opera music.
The event is being held in association with BBC Music Day 2019, which this year focuses on music and wellbeing. This year the BBC is also working with Arts in Care Homes, an initiative which aims to bring music to everyone living with dementia by 2020.
Appleby House has hosted the sell-out event over the past two years and has always received a fantastic reception from the people of Epsom. This year they have James Schouten, Louisa Barry and Susan Clark performing, as well as a bar serving a variety of drinks and a tasty buffet.
Shona Bradbury, home manager at Appleby House, said: “The opera night is our favourite event of the year, we always have an amazing turn out and the residents, team members and community adore listening to the singers.
“The fact we now have the backing of BBC Music Day 2019 will make the event even more special, and we look forward to working with Arts in Care Home to support its goal of bringing music to everyone living with dementia by 2020. We’re so pleased we’re able to do our part and help this worthy cause!”
Appleby House has been designed to provide residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as respite, and end of life care.
