The Potteries, on York Road, has been working with the group to build and plant the garden over the last few weeks.
The NCS Trust, which supports those aged between 14 and 17, has donated and helped to build a garden on the care home grounds, with young volunteers also planting a variety of flowers, fruit, vegetables and plants.
The project will have long term scope, as the young people who volunteered will help maintain it with the residents.
Zita Turner, home manager at The Potteries, said: “We’re so pleased to have joined forces with NCS and to have welcomed them into the home to create this wonderful garden for us and the local community to enjoy.
“Spending time outdoors and connecting with nature around us can prove to be beneficial for both the physical and mental wellbeing of older people – particularly those living with dementia. While it is a calming, peaceful activity, the distinctive sounds and vibrant colours of the garden are also great for providing sensory stimulation for residents.
“We’d like to thank the volunteers who put so much time and work into the garden. The residents loved meeting them, and the new garden space has proved a hit!”
