The day got off to a flying start when residents at Clara Court were visited by representatives from British Airways for a reminiscence afternoon.
The visit follows a trip to British Airways Speedbird Centre earlier this year, specially organised for resident Margaret Coates, aged 88 and former cabin crew supervisor, as part of Clara Court’s wishing tree initiative, where residents are encouraged to submit wishes.
On the day, residents and the British Airways team members took part in arts and crafts activities, including painting and gardening, and were treated to an afternoon tea specially prepared by Clara Court chefs. The British Airways team also brought memorabilia, including old posters, which helped spark conversations and brought back many memories.
Debbie Winwood, home manager at Clara Court, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon reminiscing with the British Airways team. The airline’s creation is a historical milestone, and many residents have fond memories of this time, often associated with their first family holidays abroad, so it was a fantastic way to bring back positive memories.
“The visit was even more special for Margaret – it was incredible to hear so many stories from her time as a cabin crew supervisor. We’d like to say a big thank you to British Airways for their visit and for making the day so special.”
