On Saturday 29th June, from 2pm-4pm, the team at Mountfitchet House will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Mountfitchet House has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to a 1950s-style fete with stalls, face painting, and live entertainment from a brass band. Guests can also take part in the egg-and-spoon race, or browse a showcase of residents’ artwork.
Allison Squires, home manager at Mountfitchet House, said: “Everyone at Mountfitchet House is so excited to welcome the local community in for Care Home Open Day 2019. The people of Stansted have always been so welcoming to us, it’s great to be able to give something back.
“This year’s theme of ‘Celebrating Arts in Care’ is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase all the brilliant activities we get up to on a daily basis here at Mountfitchet House, such as painting. We hope that lots of local people will join us on 29th June.”
