On Friday 28th June, from 11am - 4pm, the team at Field Lodge will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Field Lodge has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to garden landscape painting, dance lessons, and porcelain mug decorating classes. Live entertainment will be provided by the dance group 'Stage Works'.
Linda Martinez, home manager at Field Lodge, said: “Care Home Open Day is such a wonderful opportunity for our home to connect with the local community and show what it’s really like to live in a care home. We’re counting down the days until we welcome the people of St Ives into Field Lodge.
“The residents are really excited to showcase their artistic skills, and we’re all particularly looking forward to the craft activities. I know the residents and community are going to have a great time!”
As part of a nationwide competition across Care UK homes, Field Lodge will be developing a work of art in the lead up to the open day, which will be showcased at the event.
