Scarlet House gets residents back on their bikes

Scarlet House has helped residents re-live the thrill of cycling again with a visit from Wheels 4 All and some specially-adapted bikes.

Scarlet House gets residents back on their bikes

Scarlet House invited the inclusive cycling charity along as part of its ongoing commitment to hosting a busy calendar of activities; so that residents at the home can lead active and fulfilled lives.

The Wheels for All initiative is designed to make cycling accessible to everyone, helping people of all ages, abilities and needs to engage in a quality cycling activity. By using specially adapted cycles, the activities are both physically and mentally stimulating.

Home manager at Scarlet House, Kate Stevens, said: “Well we’ve really made the expression of ‘just like riding a bike’ a practical reality with this visit! It has been fabulous witnessing the reactions of residents taking part in an activity that they haven’t enjoyed for many decades; in fact, for one lady, almost 90 years!  We’ve all thoroughly enjoyed the day, which is set to be a talking point for a while to come I think.”
