On Wednesday 29th May, from 2pm - 4pm, local people are invited to Sandfields, to hear Genevieve Matley, from the Macular Society.
The session will share information about macular degeneration, outline what it’s like to live with macular degeneration, as well as ways to reduce the risk and limit the condition’s progression.
The team at Sandfields will be on hand throughout the afternoon to answer any questions on the specialised care offered at the home for people living with a range of medical conditions, whether that be macular degeneration, Alzheimer’s, or other forms of dementia.
Emma Mackenzie-Bedford, home manager at Sandfields, said: “At Sandfields, we are committed to a range of programmes designed to build awareness of key medical conditions. This is so we can offer help to individuals, as well as the wider community, to enhance their knowledge and showcase the support that is available.
“We are really proud of the education programmes we have in place and know that the expert advice on offer can have a real impact, helping visitors discover the small things they can do to make a difference to people living with macular degeneration.
“We look forward to welcoming the community into our home on Wednesday.”
