On Thursday 16th May, from 2pm - 4pm, Ferndown Manor is welcoming an expert to give advice to the local community at its falls prevention and awareness event.
Lorna Mankertz, an Independent Occupational Therapist, will be visiting the home to discuss how to prevent falls, as well as providing practical tips for maintaining independence and reducing balance problems.
During the event, there will beadvice and tips from Lorna on activities and exercises that improve balance and reduce the risk of falls, to ensure attendees get the most out of the talk.
This event also provides members of the local community with the opportunity to meet the friendly team at Ferndown Manor and take a closer look at the care home.
Janet Lewis, home manager at Ferndown Manor, said: “To prevent health issues that occasionally occur from accidental falls, it is very important to the team and to the wellbeing of the residents that we provide essential information on fall prevention. Here at Ferndown Manor, we strive to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work, and we are able to do just that with the help of a specially selected expert who will be speaking at this session.
“It is imperative that we create a safe environment for older people in the community, and ensure that family and friends have the correct information to prevent accidents. This event has proved popular in the past, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Ferndown Manor for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of advice and guidance.”
