On Thursday 23rd May, from 2pm - 4pm, the team at Cavell Court will open the home’s doors for its ‘Understanding Dementia’ event, where experts will give professional advice and support.
Dementia specialist, Amanda Bell, will deliver a guidance session to help individuals understand what it is like to live with dementia. The event also aims to provide practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as discovering positive approaches to living with dementia and useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers.
There will also be a Q&A session to ensure attendees get the most out of the event, alongside an opportunity to meet the friendly team at Cavell Court.
Jennie Rodger, home manager at Cavell Court, said: “We strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those looking after someone living with dementia. This event provides a fantastic opportunity for carers to meet other members of the community who may also be supporting their loved ones.
“We are delighted to be hosting the ‘Understanding Dementia’ event, and we look forward to welcoming the local community through our doors for what promises to be an interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.
