The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report gave Foxbridge House an overall ‘good’ rating, following an unannounced inspection.
Foxbridge House was rated ‘good’ in all five categories, which include safety, effectiveness, caring, leadership, and responsiveness. This meant the home retained their previous CQC rating, which was originally awarded in 2016.
The report commented that the residents, their relatives and visiting professionals were all complimentary about the home, its team members and its management. Comments included, "The place is nice and clean and it's well managed" and "When I came here, they brought me back to life to be honest.”
Residents told the CQC inspectors that they felt well looked after at Foxbridge House, and that the team supported them and the home environment felt safe. A relative of a resident said: “There is always someone on the reception. I know [relative] is safe and well cared for."
The home was found to be very caring, with kind team members who treat residents with dignity and respect. Comments included, "This is a lovely place. They're [team members] looking after me very well. I can't grumble at all. If I ring my bell they do come in; even in the middle of the night. The night team members are very good", and, "The care is very good indeed. If you ask for anything they'll try and do it."
Team members were commended for their knowledge about the residents living at the home and all had the necessary skills to meet their needs appropriately. All have received training in a range of essential topics including safeguarding, moving and handling, mental capacity and first aid, alongside specialist training for specific conditions such as dementia and diabetes.
Team members were also praised for maintaining resident’s privacy and dignity and the way in which they worked to promote this.
The CQC also found that residents were supported to engage in a range of activities that met their need for social interaction. Activities on offer within the home were observed during the inspection and included the reading of daily newspapers and using them as a tool to branch off into discussions with people, as well as completing the puzzles and quizzes as a group. Residents also took part in reminiscence exercise activities.
Carol McCormack, home manager at Foxbridge House, said: “Everyone has put in a lot of hard work to ensure we offer a home-from-home to all the residents and their families, and the whole team are really proud of their achievements.
“Receiving a ‘good’ rating shows just how dedicated the team is to looking after every individual’s needs, and we will continue our hard work to ensure residents receive compassionate, person-centred care. I would like to say thank you to the team for their dedication, which I know is also greatly appreciated by residents and their families.”
