104-year-old Foxbridge House resident reveals the secret to a long life

Birthday celebrations were in full swing at Foxbridge House when resident Rosina ‘Rose’ Clifton celebrated her birthday. Rose turned 104 years ‘young’ on 16th March, and revealed the secret to living to this impressive age is cooking your own food from scratch, and being stubborn.

To celebrate her milestone birthday, Rose was joined by family, friends and residents for a party hosted by the team at the care home. Everyone toasted Rose’s good health with a glass of wine and tucked into a slice of birthday cake.

Rose was born on 16th March 1915, in Lambeth, where she lived until she moved to Wallington with her husband, Ernie Clifton, after the second world war.

Rose went on to have two children, Pam and Ernie, and now has a large family, including four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren!

Rose loves to take part in all activities at the home and especially enjoys knitting, cooking and watching the television.

Carol McCormack, home manager at Foxbridge House, said: “We love to celebrate all of our residents here at Foxbridge House, especially on their birthdays, so it was terrific to be able to commemorate an occasion as special as Rose’s 104th birthday.

“It was so fantastic to see Rose celebrating this incredible milestone with her family and friends at Foxbridge House. She is quite a character, and has built lovely friendships with residents and the team since moving here in 2017. So, it was wonderful to raise a glass to her on this special occasion.”
