Mayor helps to open Harrier Lodge

Whitstable’s newest care home is inviting the local community to attend its grand launch event, where the mayor will help to officially open the home.

Mayor helps to open Harrier Lodge

On Thursday 14th March, from 2pm-4pm, local people are invited to visit Harrier Lodge to join in the celebrations, with help from Councillor Colin Spooner, Lord Mayor of Canterbury.

With the first residents having moved into Harrier Lodge earlier this year, everyone at the home is gearing up to mark its official opening.

The mayor will carry out the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon, alongside Mary Neam, who used to own the land where Harrier Lodge was built. Mary will also unveil the commemorative plaque.

On arrival, guests will be welcomed by singer Mandy Sings, who will be performing a number of hit songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s. There will also be a special musical recital from pupils at Joy Lane School.

Residents and guests will also enjoy a flower-arranging demonstration, cupcake decorating, as well as having the opportunity to play with friendly dogs from The Canine Cuddle Club.

Visitors will be pampered with mini beauty treatments, including manicures and facials, and will also have the chance to meet the team at Harrier Lodge and take a tour of the care home.

Harrier Lodge home manager, Diane Collins, said: “Since we opened the doors to Harrier Lodge, we have had such a warm and positive response from those living locally, and we already feel like part of the community. We would therefore like to invite the people of Whitstable to be part of our official opening celebrations.

“We have planned a family-friendly event to appeal to all generations, and we are delighted to have so many special guests coming along on the day to help us mark this important milestone.”
