Lost and hound – Scarlet House seeks bloodhound to surprise resident

Scarlet House is reaching out to the community in hopes of making one resident’s wish to recreate a famous photo come true, after discovering she starred in well-known bloodhound portraits.

Scarlet House is asking local people if they have a friendly bloodhound they could surprise resident, Barbara Lloyd with, after the home discovered she would like to recreate the famous photo she starred in as a child.

When she was younger, 86-year-old Barbara, was asked to pose for portraits with a friend’s bloodhound. Little did she know the photos would go on to be used on greeting cards and postcards across the world.

Barbara added a wish to recreate the photo to the home’s Wishing Tree – an initiative run by the team to help make residents’ wishes come true. The team are now on the hunt to find a friendly bloodhound dog to meet Barbara and star in the replica portraits.

Kate Stevens, home manager at Scarlet House, said: “We were thrilled to find out Barbara is the star of the original bloodhound portrait, and enjoyed listening to her recall how this came about.

“Fulfilling residents’ lives is at the heart of everything we do here at Scarlet House, and when we saw Barbara’s wish, we were eager to make this come true.

“The team here are looking forward to working with the local community to find a bloodhound to recreate the portraits with.”
