Members of Guardian Court Association in Sale took part in the competition to name the new home which opens in August next year.
The competition called for the people who know the town best, its residents, to share suggestions that have cultural or regional reference to the town.
Members of the Guardian Court Association inspired the final name, with their suggestion of ‘Oakfield House’, as the care home, on Washway Road, is also on the corner of Oakfield, where Guardian Court is located.
Daniel Turner-Naylor, regional director at Care UK, said: “The home naming process is one of the key milestones for a new home, so it was important to involve the community in the decision. All of the names put forward were of a very high quality, but we felt ‘Oakfield Croft’ really rooted the home in the local area.
“We’re so grateful to everyone that made a name suggestion, and to Guardian Court Residents Association for helping select the home’s name – we hope to work with them again in the future!”
