Birthday celebrations were in full swing at Buchanan Court when resident Megan Butcher marked the impressive milestone.
The surprise afternoon tea party was hosted by the team at the care home, and included a large strawberry-filled cake as well as a performance from a Welsh choir.
The youngest of eight siblings, Megan was born on 14th January 1917 in Tonypandy, South Wales. She moved to London aged 14, where she met her husband Jack. She then went on to work for McVites as a machine operator in the evenings, before becoming a nursery teacher.
Megan travelled all around the globe in her younger years, and visited an array of countries, including Australia and Egypt. A sports lover, she had a passion for roller skating, running and ballroom dancing, which she later taught others as she polished her skills. She also enjoys football, and regularly attended Tottenham Hotspurs’ games, her favourite team.
Ruth Halls, home manager at Buchanan Court, said: “We love celebrating the special days like birthdays to ensure the residents feel at home. Megan has been with us for five months, and everyone here at Buchanan Court loves hearing the stories of her adventurous past. She brings a lot of energy to the home, so it was wonderful to celebrate another incredible milestone with her.
“We held a special surprise party and she had a really wonderful time celebrating with her family and friends.”
