Birthday celebrations were in full swing at Foxbridge House, when resident Hilda Beard celebrated her birthday. Hilda turned 104 years ‘young’ on 10th November, and revealed the secret to living to 104 is enjoying life to the full and staying close to loved ones.
To celebrate her milestone birthday, Hilda was joined by family, friends and residents for a party hosted by the team at the home. Everyone toasted Hilda’s good health with a glass of wine and tucked into a slice of birthday cake.
Hilda was born on 10th November 1914 in Birmingham and has lived all over the world, including in Ethiopia and Egypt, where she travelled with her first husband, Charles Edmond Venables, during the war.
Hilda loves to take part in all activities at the home and especially enjoys knitting – but having a sing-song and a party with friends and family is what Hilda loves most of all.
Hilda has lived at Foxbridge House care home since May 2017, after making a lot of friends at the home while receiving respite care and decided it was the perfect place to call home.
Carol McCormack, home manager at Foxbridge House, said: “Residents are at the heart of everything we do here at Foxbridge House, and we always like to throw a party for special celebrations, and Hilda’s 104th birthday is no exception.
“It’s fantastic to see Hilda celebrating this incredible milestone with her family and friends at Foxbridge House. Everyone here loves hearing memories of her time travelling, it’s inspiring to hear of all the places she has visited in her lifetime!”
