Residents and team members at Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, set out on a one-mile walk around the local area to raise much needed funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The team at the home, which offers specialist dementia care, chose to hold its very own ‘Memory Walk’ after residents wanted to help the charity and raise awareness during World Alzheimer’s Month – which is held every September.
The ‘Memory Walk’ initiative, set up by the Alzheimer’s Society, helps fund vital research by encouraging walkers, around the country, to unite against dementia and host their own walk.
Starting from the home, residents were joined by family, friends and team members for the walk around Worcester. Those donning their walking boots were cheered on along the route by the home team and residents.
Katherine Matthews, home manager at Perry Manor, said: “Here at Perry Manor we’re advocates of the wonderful work that the Alzheimer’s Society carries out. Alzheimer’s has had a huge effect on many residents and their families, and that’s why we chose to support this initiative.
“To help drive awareness of the Alzheimer’s Society, residents chose to hold our very own ‘Memory Walk’ to raise much-needed funds. The day itself was lovely with the whole team, residents, family and friends coming together. We’re already looking forward to the next fundraising event.”
