Pupils from Victoria Primary School and Clermiston Primary School were invited by Care UK to create a piece of artwork around the theme of ‘my happy place’. The artwork is now on display in Murrayside , as the care home prepares to welcome its first residents.
Pupils from Victoria Primary School visited the home to see their drawings up on display and met customer relations manager Gill Gray. It is hoped that this will be the beginning of a strong relationship between the schools and the care home residents.
The multi-million pound purpose-built care home, which will provide full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 63 residents in Edinburgh, is due to open in the near future.
Gill Gray, customer relations manager at Murrayside, said: “We were delighted to be able to collaborate with Victoria Primary School and Clermiston Primary School on a lovely art project to brighten up our marketing suite.
“It was great to welcome the children to see their pictures displayed and we look forward to working with the school on future projects.”
Marjory Irvine, Pupil Support Assistant at Victoria Primary School, commented: “The children had a great time creating the artwork and sharing stories of their happy places. We are looking forward to visiting the home again soon and meeting the first residents when they have settled into their new home.”
Class teacher at Clermiston Primary School, Kathryn Templeton, added: “We were thrilled when Care UK asked us to be part of their exciting new venture here in Edinburgh. All of our pupils enjoyed getting creative and are thrilled that their pictures now have pride of place at Murrayside. We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with Murrayside when the doors open.”
