The team at Pear Tree Court organised the trip to Spinnaker Tower when it was revealed that some of the Portsmouth ‘born-and-bred’ residents had never visited the local landmark.
Residents enjoyed the scenic panorama of Portsmouth from the Sky Deck, where they could see as far as the Isle of Wight. Everybody shared stories of their time growing up in the city, and reminisced while taking in the spectacular sights. Some residents even braved a walk across the 110m high suspended glass floor to take advantage of the birds-eye view it provides.
After descending from the tower, residents enjoyed a home-made picnic on the harbour front at Gunwharf Quays.
Ray Arnold, home managerat Pear Tree Court, said: “Here at Pear Tree Court we always like to go the extra mile to make sure residents can participate in activities that have special meaning to them. I am really pleased that we were able to make this trip happen, especially as Portsmouth is remembered fondly by many of the residents as the place where they grew up.
“Everybody had a wonderful day, and you could see from their reactions just how thrilled everyone was to be able to see such a fantastic view of the Portsmouth skyline. We’ll definitely be back again to share this fantastic experience with more of the residents.”
