Resident, Leslie reignites memories at Fire Station

Home news

Darlington Community Fire Station held a community open day on Saturday 16th June 2018 so that members of the public could meet the fire officers and team members.

One of our Ventress Hall Residents - Leslie was an ex-fire officer who had worked at the station, so we went along for a visit with him.  Leslie reminisced with the fire fighters and, in particular, spoke to Dominic Brown, Assistant Chief Fire officer at the station.

It was a very special day for Leslie who was able to talk to Dominic about the time he spent serving at the fire station and to tell them about receiving his long-service medal and show his medals off to the fire officers.

Dominic had this to say: “I am honoured and moved at meeting Leslie - he is welcome any time – once it’s in your blood, it’s always in your blood. We are putting Leslie’s photograph up in the fire station and publishing the photos on social media.”

Dominic also said: “Leslie is welcome to take part in anything we may have coming up in the future.”
