Pupils from Broomhouse Primary School took part in a competition to name the three suites at Care UK’s new care home, Murrayside.
The children put their heads together to come up with a list of names that have cultural or historical reference to them and the local area, and these were then whittled down to the top three by the Care UK team.
When Murrayside opens this autumn, the suites will be known as: the ‘Roseburn Suite’, named after nearby Roseburn Park, the ‘Nisbet Suite’, in honour of The Dean of Nisbet, the former owner of the Murrayfield estate, and the ‘Broomhouse Suite’, dedicated to the children at Broomhouse Primary School as a thank you for helping to name the suites.
Care UK presented the winning children with individual book vouchers to say thank you for all their hard work.
Janet Decourt, who will take the reins as home manager of Murrayside later this year, said: “As we gear up to welcome the first residents to the home this autumn, the all-important naming of the suites within the care home is a priority, and we thought this presented an excellent opportunity to work with Broomhouse Primary School, and to get to know our neighbours a little better.
“The ideas the pupils put forward were all of a very high quality, and we’re really pleased with the chosen three names.”
