The team at Priors House welcomed the people of Leamington Spato enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The home marked the occasion by throwing a royal-inspired party in honour of the Queen’s 92nd birthday. The team members organised an Ascot-themed celebration, and were delighted to unveil their new garden gazeebo, which was opened by special guest, The Archer’s star, Sunny Ormonde.
Guests enjoyed a live musical performance from local singer, Maggie O’Hara, who delivered a number of the residents’ favourite hits. The fun didn’t stop there, as residents donned their finest attire to put on their very own fashion show during the afternoon, and also got up close and personal with some four-legged friends from Lollipop Ponies.
Francine Summers, home manager at Priors House, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating Care Home Open Day at Priors House. The residents all really enjoyed having the ponies visit the home, and they had a fantastic time putting on the fashion show for their friends and family.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like, so it was fantastic to see so many of our neighbours come along to celebrate. We would like to say a big thank you to Lollipop Ponies, Sunny Ormonde, and the people of Leamington Spa, for making the day so special.”
