The team at Foxbridge House welcomed the people of Orpington to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The sun was shining as residents and visitors enjoyed a Mad Hatter tea party, complete with fun fancy dress costumes and themed games, in honour of the Queen’s 92nd birthday. Residents were also joined by Goddington Guides for the celebration, who were on hand to give out tea and cake. The Guides also spent the afternoon chatting to residents, and reading out stories from Alice in Wonderland.
Carol McCormack, home manager at Foxbridge House, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating Care Home Open Day at Foxbridge House. The residents all really enjoyed getting into the party spirit and celebrating the birthday of the Queen, who for many residents has strong links back to their past lives, and it was fantastic to see so many of our neighbours come along.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like – and what better way to do so than by celebrating in the sunshine! We would like to say a big thank you to the Goddington Guides, as well as the people of Orpington, for joining us.”
