The team at Ellesmere House welcomed the people of Chelsea to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The home threw a royal-inspired celebration to mark the occasion. Residents and visitors enjoyed a special concert from pupils from Servite Catholic School, followed by a performance from Atsuko, a ballerina with the Chelsea Ballet Company. There was a formal sit-down meal prepared by the home’s head chef, and residents enjoyed dancing the evening away to jazz music.
Desiree Jooste, home manager at Ellesmere, said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating Care Home Open Day at Ellesmere. The residents all really enjoyed chatting with the children and watching the beautiful ballet performance, and it was great to see everyone having so much fun.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like, and it was brilliant to see so many of our neighbours come along for the party. We would like to say a big thank you to the people of Chelsea, the Servite Catholic School pupils and Atsuko for celebrating with us.”
