The teams at Appleby House welcomed the people of Epsom to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
Visitors to Appleby House were treated to live entertainment from Chris Clark and rock & roll band, Semi Circle, which got everyone in the party spirit. Residents and younger guests got their creative juices flowing by painting Aboriginal-inspired art.
Everyone also had the chance to get up close with a host of friendly animals, including ducks, guinea pigs and donkeys from Millers Ark Animals. The home’s head chef prepared a delicious barbecue, and there was a cake buffet for everyone to enjoy.
Shona Bradbury, home manager at Appleby House, said: “We had a fantastic day celebrating Care Home Open Day. Residents and visitors alike really enjoyed the musical entertainment, and the furry and feathered visitors were a real hit! It was fantastic to see so many of our neighbours come along for the party.”
