The team at Mountfitchet House welcomed the people of Stansted to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The residents and visitors raised a glass to the Queen in celebration of her 92nd birthday with a traditional afternoon tea, a royal-themed supper and a cake baking competition.
There was also a special reading of some of the resident’s favourite poems from the care home’s poetry club.
Allison Squires, home manager at Mountfitchet House, said: “We had a fantastic day celebrating Care Home Open Day with a special birthday bash for the Queen.
“The residents all really enjoyed the royal-themed activities, with the cake competition being a particular highlight! We would like to say a big thank you to the people of Stansted for celebrating the day with us and making it extra special.”
