Join Grangewood for a royal celebration this Care Home Open Day

Grangewood is inviting local people to visit the home to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

On Friday 20th April, from 11am-3.30pm, the team at Grangewood will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

To commemorate the Queen’s 92nd birthday, Grangewood has organised a royal-inspired party to celebrate the open day. With homemade crowns at the ready, entertainment will include a live performance from 1950s singer to celebrate the Queen’s 1953 coronation and a fun game of bingo. Complimentary refreshments including tea, coffee and cake will also be served and visitors will have the opportunity to meet Grangewood’s friendly team.

Kirsty Crozier, home manager at Grangewood, said: “We’ve already had a brilliant start to the year at Grangewood, and our Care Home Open Day celebrations are set to be a real highlight. The day is all about enriching the lives of residents by building lasting relationships with the community, so what better excuse to invite the people of Houghton-le-Spring to the home than to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.

“The residents are looking forward to decorating the home and making it fit for a queen, and we cannot wait to open our doors for this royal celebration.”
