The team at Buchanan Court welcomed the people of Harrow to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The home marked the occasion by throwing a Commonwealth-themed party. To get into the party spirit, team members were dressed in traditional dress from Commonwealth countries to greet guests as they arrived. Residents and visitors were treated to a special performance from local entertainer, Shareen Gray, who played the steel drums, as well as enjoying complimentary refreshments, including delicious dishes inspired by countries of the Commonwealth.
Zena Khudawes, customer relations manager at Buchanan Court, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon marking Care Home Open Day at Buchanan Court – the residents all really enjoyed celebrating the countries of the Commonwealth. Shareen Gray put on a fantastic performance on the steel drums, and it was great to see many of our residents dancing along.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like, so it was brilliant to see so many of our neighbours come along to celebrate. We would like to say a big thank you to the people of Harrow for making the day so special.”
