Seventeen members of the team at Ambleside signed up to be Dignity Champions to mark the occasion.
Dignity Action Day is an opportunity for everyone to ensure that people who use care services are treated as individuals and are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives. The Dignity Champions, led by the National Dignity Council, form part of a nationwide network of 100,000+ individuals and organisations who work to put dignity and respect at the heart of UK care services.
Clare Mudge, home manager at Ambleside, said: “Here at Ambleside, we strongly believe recognising residents as individuals and enabling people to maintain the maximum possible level of independence whilst respecting their right to privacy is essential to create a homely, safe environment.”
“Dignity Action Day perfectly embodies our values and it was wonderful to see so many of our staff getting involved.”
The newly-appointed Dignity Champions used the day to highlight the importance of dignity, respect and compassion.
Dignity in care is promoted at Ambleside in a number of ways including encouraging residents to socialise in the restaurant, get involved in meal planning and join in activities to help improve self-esteem and their sense of fulfilment.
Ambleside provides a range of services from residential and specialist dementia care, to sensitive end of life care.
