The team at Buchanan Court were joined by the home’s first resident, John Soughton, and Councillor Ajay Maru to cut the ribbon and officially open the care home.
Visitors and residents enjoyed a host of entertainment. Pupils from St George’s Catholic School performed a selection of residents’ favourite songs, and a local singer provided further musical entertainment. There were plenty of fun activities on offer for all the family, including cake decorating, arts and crafts, and jewellery making. There were also hand massages and reflexology sessions for guests to relax and enjoy after a busy afternoon of fun activities.
Award winning children’s author, Jeanne Willis, also joined in the celebrations, and after a special reading, pupils from St George’s Catholic School took part in a workshop based on her popular book, The Bog Baby.
“The residents and their families are at the heart of everything we do, including the launch celebrations, and it was an enjoyable day for all. It was fantastic to welcome so many local people and special guests to Buchanan Court. Our grand launch really was a day to remember.”
