A team member at Highmarket House is celebrating after receiving the award for Leadership in Dignity in Care at the Dignity in Care Awards 2017.
Sally Matthews, Customer relations manager, at Care UK’s Highmarket House on North Bar Place, was awarded the accolade after judges recognised her commitment to promoting dignity in care and going above and beyond the call of duty to inspire the team to deliver outstanding care.
The Dignity in Care Awards are held annually and recognise individuals across Oxfordshire that go the extra mile to deliver real dignity in care.
The home, which celebrated its official grand launch earlier this month, will provide care for up to 73 residents. Since the home opened, Sally has been leading dignity training with the new team so that they can be recognised as Dignity Champions. The training teaches the team to show respect and compassion to residents as well as their peers.
Dignity in care is promoted at Highmarket House in a number of ways including encouraging residents to socialise in the restaurant, get involved in meal planning and join in activities to help improve self-esteem and their sense of fulfilment.
Julia Hedley home manager at Highmarket House, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that our Sally has been recognised in the Dignity in Care Awards.
“Sally is incredibly passionate about promoting dignity and she is dedicated to ensuring that the wider team shares her commitment to applying those practices in the home. Resident or peer, Sally is an advocate that everyone should be treated in an inclusive way, not only creating a homely environment for residents, but a positive workplace for the team. We will continue to embrace this ethos as Highmarket House establishes itself in the local community.”
