A multi-million pound Sutton Coldfield care home has marked its latest construction milestone with a ‘topping out’ ceremony.

The team at Mercia Grange were joined by developer and construction partners, Seddon and Octopus Healthcare, as well as guest of honour, Deputy Mayor of Sutton Coldfield, Councillor Derrick Griffin.

The project is on track to create more than 100 jobs when the care home is fully commissioned, and will welcome its first residents early next year.

Tim Parker, construction project manager for Care UK, said: “As the latest addition to a growing portfolio of residential care homes, Mercia Grange represents a major investment for Care UK.  When complete, the purpose-built care home will boost the provision of quality residential care for up to 67 older people, as well as creating jobs for the local community.

“It was brilliant to have been able to celebrate this important building milestone as we step ever-closer to opening the doors to older people Sutton Coldfield. I am thrilled too that Councillor Derrick Griffin was able to join us for the occasion, and I look forward to welcoming him back to see the home once complete.”
