Field Lodge celebrated the Queen and Prince Philip’s platinum wedding anniversary with a party ‘fit for a queen’.
The Care UK team at Field Lodge on London Road, were joined by the Mayor of St Ives, Councillor Philip Pope, for the royal celebration. The home was adorned with Union Jack bunting and residents enjoyed a traditional cream tea and a screening of the iconic wedding day in the home’s cinema.
Home manager at Field Lodge, Katie Wilkinson, explained why the home celebrated the wedding anniversary: “Celebrating the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s platinum wedding anniversary gave us a fantastic opportunity to provide residents with a valuable reminiscence activity, which is particularly important for those living with dementia. Many residents remember the wedding day in 1947 and we all enjoyed hearing their stories and memories from this historic event.
“We were delighted that the Mayor of St Ives was able to join us for the occasion, we had a brilliant time celebrating, while raising a glass to the Queen and Prince Phillip on their special day.”
