Friends of St John’s were invited to Chandler Courtto receive £250 from the care home which is due to open in early 2018.
The voluntary organisation is dedicated to hosting regular events and fundraising initiatives throughout the year to raise much needed funds for one of the town’s oldest and iconic buildings.
Since laying its foundations in the town, Chandler Court has embedded itself in the local community, from working with local schools to create artwork for the hoardings and to name the care home’s suites, to running competitions with residents in the town to give the home a name with local relevance.
Speaking about the charity donation, home manager Jo Gill said: “As we step ever-closer to opening the doors here in Bromsgrove, it’s important we build relationships with the local community and ensure we are making a positive impact on the town.
“Bromsgrove has so much heritage and culture that we wanted to help preserve just one part of this with our donation to Friends of St John’s. We are thrilled to be working with the charity and are already discussing future projects as we prepare to welcome the first residents to Chandler Court.”
Chairman of the Friends of St Johns, Jo Slade, said, “For thousands of years a building has stood on this hill, and over time it has been used as a meeting place, a market, a place for worship, and most importantly a place for the community.
“We are delighted to receive this donation from Chandler Court and are keen to build on this new relationship when the home opens next year. On behalf of everyone at Friends of St Johns I would like to thank Jo, Chip and the team at Chandler Court for their generosity.”
