The team at Jubilee House, donated a £500 cheque to the ‘Forget Me Not’ ward at The Royal Surrey County Hospital, as well as raising a further £415 through a raffle.
Jubilee House chose the Royal Surrey County Hospital to be its charity of the year as it has a mutual focus of leading the way in dementia care.
In addition to the donations, Jubilee House provided reminiscence boxes containing items from days gone by such as games, books, historical pictures and locally hand-made crochet blankets. These boxes are to be used within the ward to encourage stimulation through sparking fond memories of the past. Similar boxes are also enjoyed by the residents at Jubilee House to encourage reminiscence and create an enjoyable environment.
Home manager at Jubilee House, Totka Zhelyazkova, said “At Jubilee House we are always looking for ways to make Godalming a more dementia-friendly community. Many residents of Jubilee House have received support from the ‘Forget Me Not Ward’, so this was our way of saying thank you and helping to create a more comfortable ward for future patients."
