Free advice event returns to Bowes House

Bowes House is inviting local people to a free event where they can find out more about preventing falls among older people.

On Thursday 17th August, from 2.30pm-4.30pm, Bowes House is welcoming an expert to give advice to the community. Matt Maher, physiotherapist and owner of 4Front Physiotherapy Ltd, will be visiting the home to offer guidance and information on preventing falls and maintaining independence.

As well as discussing the common causes of slips and trips, Matt will also be on hand to provide expert advice on how to create safer environments for older people and the activities and exercises that relatives can implement to help improve their loved ones’ balance.

After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the opportunity to meet the team at Bowes House and take a tour of the care home.

Bowes House home manager, Helena Barrow said: “Here at Bowes House, we seek to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work. Falls prevention is very important to the team, and to the wellbeing of the residents, as accidental falls can occasionally lead to further health issues.

“Previous events have proven to be incredibly popular, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Bowes House for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
