On Tuesday 12th September, between 10am-11:30am the team at Darlington Court will open the doors to the care home on The Leas for its free event encouraging local people to take a step towards creating a more dementia-friendly community in the Arun district.
Team members at the home will be joined by Dawn Fairbrother, from Dementia Action Alliance, Mandie Kane, from Sussex partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and Tracey Light, a voluntary sector relationship officer, who will help to increase people’s understanding of dementia. The event also aims to encourage people to think about the small things they can do which can make a big difference to those living with dementia and carers in the local community.
Darlington Court will be hosting the event as part of the Care UK team’s commitment to Dementia Friends, an initiative from the Alzheimer’s Society.
Darlington Court home manager, Fiona Wiederkher, said: “At Darlington Court we have a commitment to encourage others to learn about what life is like with dementia, and to broaden their understanding of it. We are really proud to be supporting Dementia Friends and to share our knowledge and expertise.
“We want to educate, but also help people to turn their knowledge into action to make our community more aware of those living with dementia, and we look forward to welcoming the local people of Littlehampton for an inspiring afternoon.”
