Colne View was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Residents and visitors enjoyed a day of vintage American entertainment including screenings of classic films throughout the day in the home’s cinema, including Grease and Singing in the Rain.
Visitors to the home also enjoyed a delicious barbecue, a visit from Dogs for Development, and were entertained with performances from Braintree Ladies Choir and Weissenborn guitarist, Aron Radford
Omar Taylor, home manager at Colne View, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day is a particular highlight each year as it is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our home and celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.
“This year’s event was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links within the local community. We hope that all our visitors enjoyed themselves as much as we did and look forward to welcoming them back to the home for events in the future.”
