The team at Winchcombe Place opened the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Residents were joined by pupils from The Winchcombe School and the local community for a traditional teddy bear’s picnic. Everyone tucked into a specially made picnic lunch in the home gardens and were entertained by pupils from the Trinity School Band.
Guests also had the chance to get up close and personal to Winchcombe Place’s two resident polar bears!
Cliff Hutchings, home manager at Winchcombe Place, said: “We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Care Home Open Day with the local community. The event was a brilliant opportunity to break down preconceptions about care home life and showcase the warm and welcoming care environment here at Winchcombe Place.
“The residents loved interacting with the children from Winchcombe School and taking part in the festivities, and everyone commented how much they enjoyed the celebration. We look forward to welcoming the people of Newbury to join us again very soon.”
