Team behind £7.6 million Harrow care home celebrates ‘topping out’

One of the UK’s leading independent care home providers, Care UK, has moved a step closer to delivering a new care home in Harrow, with a ‘topping out’ ceremony held on site to mark the latest construction milestone in the £7.6 million building project.

The Deputy Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Margaret Davine, and Mayoress Marilyn Devine, joined the team from Care UK and representatives from developer and construction partner, Castleoak, as the last tile was placed on the roof of Buchanan Court, which is situated on Sudbury Hill.

The project is on track to create up to 80 jobs when the care home is fully commissioned, and will welcome its first residents later this year.

Justin Daley, construction project manager for Care UK, said: “As the latest addition to a growing portfolio of residential care homes, Buchanan Court represents a major investment for Care UK.  When complete, the four-storey, purpose-built care home will boost the provision of quality residential care for up to 80 older people, as well as creating jobs for the local community.

“We take a great pride in the build quality, layout and design of each individual care home – not least because these are all very important factors which can greatly impact the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment.

“As work continues in Harrow, Care UK’s vison for the home is well on the way to being realised; and we wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge progress and celebrate the topping out with our construction partners and other stakeholders.”

Paul Roberts, contracts manager at Castleoak, who is overseeing the development in Harrow, added: “It is a pleasure working with Care UK yet again to create a welcoming and fit-for-purpose home. We could not have asked for a more cohesive approach from Care UK.

“We are all proud to be delivering a high-quality facility for the local community that will welcome many residents for years to come.”

The new four-storey care home, which will feature 80 ensuite bedrooms, has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and will include its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
