Esteemed broadcaster to open Weald Heights

Weald Heights is inviting the local community to attend its ‘Grand Launch’ where Gloria Hunniford will officially open the home.

On Tuesday 13th June, from 2pm-4pm, local people are invited to visit the care home to join in the celebrations.

Gloria Hunniford, popular television and radio presenter, will be cutting the ribbon and officially opening the care home.

With the first residents having moved into Weald Heights in April, everyone at the home is gearing up to mark its official opening.

After the official proceedings are complete, guests can take part in arts and crafts activities, and animal therapy sessions with Nightingale Dogs. They will also have the opportunity to try the ‘Magic Table’ and play games with interactive light animations, including throwing a beach ball and playing with butterflies.

The Magic Table has been designed to stimulate both physical and cognitive activity, as well as social interaction for residents living with dementia.

There will also be live music from Swingtime Sweethearts and harpist, Louisa Duggan. Head chef, Jayaraman Puthupanath-House, will also provide specially prepared refreshments for guests including afternoon tea and canapés.

Those who attend the event will also have the chance to meet the team at Weald Heights and Gloria Hunniford, as well as take a tour of the care home.

Weald Heights home manager, Maria Covington, said: “Since we opened the doors to Weald Heights, we have had such a warm and positive response from those living locally, and we already feel like part of the community. We would therefore like to invite the people of Sevenoaks to be part of our official opening celebrations.

“We have planned a family-friendly event to appeal to all generations, and we are delighted to have Gloria Hunniford coming along on the day to help us mark this important milestone.”

Weald Heights has been designed to provide residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as respite, end of life and palliative care.

The ethos at Weald Heights is based on person-centred care, which means residents’ values are right at the heart of the home. The team takes the time to get to know residents to ensure everything from their lifestyle plan to their daily menu suits their unique needs and preferences.

As part of its premium offering, Weald Heights offers a customised fine dining service, allowing residents to order from a selection of dishes, delivered to their table by a hostess. The lifestyle team will also work with residents to create one-to-one and group activities that suit their individual likes and needs.

Choice, variety and luxury are built into every aspect of life at the home, which offers a combination of professional, individualised care and luxury hotel-style comfort.
